This Privacy Policy explains how Netzero Labs, Inc. ("Netzero", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects personal data when you use the Netzero application ("the App") and related services available at https://app.netzero.energy and https://www.netzero.energy.

By using the App, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please stop using the App.

1. Data We Collect

We collect information necessary to provide, improve, and secure the App and its services.

a. Account and Contact Information

Email address when you sign in with the App.
Subscription details such as tier, renewal, or cancellation status.

b. Location Data

Approximate (city-level) location if you provide it for features like solar forecasts and weather.
We do not store precise location data.

c. Energy and Device Data

Data from connected devices such as solar generation, home consumption, grid import/export, and battery charge or discharge.
Diagnostic data from devices such as firmware version, inverter signals, or error codes.
Configuration and usage data from integrated devices like electric vehicles, electric vehicle chargers, thermostats, or heat pumps.
Developer or API data such as logs, exports, or telemetry.

d. Subscription and Payment Data

We receive non-sensitive payment metadata (subscription tier, renewal status, transaction ID) from payment processors such as Apple, Google, or Stripe.
We do not collect or store your credit card or payment credentials.

e. Usage, Analytics, and Diagnostics Data

App usage patterns, feature interactions, and session durations.
Crash reports, performance logs, and technical data such as device type and OS version.
Aggregated or anonymized analytics to understand feature usage and improve performance.

f. Communication Data

Support messages, feedback, and correspondence history when you contact us.
Notification tokens or email addresses for sending app or account notifications.

2. Purpose of Processing

Provide, operate, and improve the App and its services.
Manage your account, authentication, and subscription.
Diagnose and resolve technical issues.
Communicate with you about account activity, updates, and changes.
Develop new features and improve performance.
Comply with legal obligations such as tax reporting and fraud prevention.
Produce aggregated, anonymized analyses of system performance and energy usage.

Contract performance: to provide the App and its features.
Consent: when you explicitly allow certain data collection (for example, optional location data).
Legitimate interests: for analytics, diagnostics, and feature improvements that do not override your privacy rights.

6. Data Retention

We keep personal data while your account is active or as required for legal compliance.
After account deletion, personal data is removed or anonymized.
Aggregated data may be retained indefinitely as it cannot identify individuals.
Diagnostic logs may be kept up to 12 months for performance analysis.

7. Data Deletion and Portability

You can delete your account at https://www.netzero.energy/delete_account.
After deletion, personal data and associated identifiers are removed.
You can request an export of your personal data by emailing info@netzero.energy.
Aggregated data already anonymized will not be deleted, as it contains no identifiable information.

We retain only metadata needed for entitlement verification and support.
Cancellation or payment failure will stop access to paid features but not affect free account usage.
We may notify users of subscription or pricing updates by email or within the App.

11. Automated Decision-Making

Netzero does not use automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or significant effects on users.

We may revise this Privacy Policy as needed. The latest version will always be available at https://www.netzero.energy/privacy with the "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance.
